From Digital Marketing to Data Visualization and Dashboards
For the past few weeks I’ve been thinking about switching the topic I cover in my content, from Digital Marketing to Data Visualization and Dashboards.
Because the more I look at it, digital marketing feels like it’s getting easier and easier, and the professional positioning has gotten really hard to tell apart. Both for agencies and for individuals.
Digital Marketing as a service/profession is already a Red Ocean.
On top of that, the more time goes on, the more I notice that companies treat digital marketing as something easy. At least that’s what I see around here.
Honestly, there’s a huge amount of room to educate the market that uses Digital Marketing services, precisely because that educational space isn’t being filled.
Bored
Another thing I’m feeling in the world of Digital Marketing right now is boredom. Nothing new, in my opinion, over the past few years.
What shows up new is just platforms and trends that stick around for a bit and then disappear, replaced by some other trend.
And a situation like this makes me feel like there’s no challenge left in Digital Marketing. The last one was TikTok, and I’ve already studied it — both going live and creating content — and I’ve got the pattern down.
Data Visualization and Dashboards
Since last year, I’ve actually been digging into Looker Studio and working with data. I found the fun in turning thousands of rows of data into nice visuals.
From there, I dug around on Upwork to see how many people are playing in this space. At the very least, it’s not as crowded as Digital Marketing.
And even when people can use Looker Studio, not many dig deeper into automation. Even though it’s such a powerful tool.
On top of that, in real life there are a ton of people who can’t tell the difference between data, a report, and a dashboard. Even though that’s essential when you’re talking about company data.
Conclusion
Well, that’s it for this piece. Honestly this is still just me racing to fill the blog for now. Meanwhile, I’m prepping projects around data visualization and dashboards.
See you, gusy 😉
